Sara Knight, President/Owner

Strata is owned and operated by Sara E. Knight, P.E. Sara is a registered professional engineer with a background in geotechnical engineering. Prior to starting Strata, Sara worked as a senior geotechnical engineer in the Chicagoland area and was responsible for project management and engineering aspects of projects including foundation studies, soil testing, slope stability, tunneling and retaining wall analysis. Various aspects of projects included up to four-level below-grade spaces, slurry walls, top of rock and rock-socketed caissons, caisson re-use, dewatering deep silt deposits, existing caisson and freight tunnel conflicts and backfilling. Ms. Knight is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Long Grove, ASCE, SAME and ADSC.

Chuck Leucht, Director of Operations

Chuck Leucht has worked as a drilling manager in Illinois and Texas for over 24 years and is responsible for safety, scheduling, equipment maintenance and repair and USDOT compliance. Mr. Leucht has coordinated numerous difficult drilling projects including emergency drilling and specialty testing for TVA dam failure and off-shore projects in numerous lakes and rivers throughout the Midwest. His comprehensive understanding of the business and his innovative thinking help Strata clients receive the highest quality information and best level of service.
